Jayson “Panzer” sizzled like a slab of bacon onto the cosplay scene back in 2008 but he didn’t snap, crackle, and pop into his own until 2012 when his MCU Loki cosplay was debuted. It proved such a colossal success as that it led to his continued vested interest in the hobby as he thrives best amongst his creative peers.

When he isn’t cosplaying, Panzer can be found sitting by a roaring fire with a bubble pipe and some fine Russian Romantic literature to keep his mind active. That is assuming of course that he isn’t busy liberating thousands of zealous aliens intent on annihilating all life in the universe through the activation of halo arrays from their mortal coils.

The interest Panzer holds in GAAM started out innocent enough. Lystrade convinced him to participate alongside her with the promise of free beer. What he learned along the way, however was that GAAM was much more than the glorious promise of free beverage; it was a celebration of all the things that make the gaming community great. From indie games to artists, music, and cosplay, GAAM respects the lot of em without favoritism which has led to Panzer’s love and loyalty to the organization.

Hello! I am Alexander. A carpenter, fan-boy of the late 80’s to 90’s games, mediocre cinephile, and collector of ties.
GAAM. GAAM is what gives Jacksonville a chance to be something other than the city you avoid on your way to your true destination. It’s the gathering place for people who love the escape of gamming, the culture of art, and the heart of music.
To be part of this GAAM world is basically like feeding the poor, but the poor are people hungry for popular culture. I’ve met so many people who share my interest, and have had conversations about crafting that I don’t find the opportunity to have anywhere else nearby.
GAAM is where you go to enjoy the best side of Jacksonville. It’s the side that’s too easy to miss. Hope I’m not too cheesy, but people love the hell out of cheese.

It can easily be said that gaming runs in Joyce Roberson’s blood, since opening up that Super Nintendo Entertainment System one Christmas morning, to the many years of arguing who would be Mario and who would be Luigi that followed. Spending the majority of her free time as a child playing games with her siblings (both of which took different paths to being competitive gamers, one in League of Legends, the other in DOTA), Joyce began exploring the different worlds of MMORPGs and RTS games. When she isn’t masterminding strategies to conquer her foes in the latest RTS, she is riding across Hyrule, Skyrim, or some other distant land to get her fix of adventure.

This love of games has led to her adoption of cosplay as a hobby, where she can represent her fandom in new and exciting ways. Cosplaying for over 10 years, Joyce self-taught herself to sew, apply stylized make-up, draft patterns, style wigs, and even create intricate pieces of armor.

Cosplay led Joyce to team up with GAAM for their cosplay photo-shoots, starting at the Legend of GAAM (Zelda-themed) shoot (both as a character and fashion-themed model) and continuing at the GAAM-Fantasy shoot (Final Fantasy-themed) as a character.

I am a huge fanboy. I love fantasy, sci-fi, comics, and so on. I have always enjoyed costumes. I have been a hobbyist costumer since making a Superman costume on my own in 1998. Originally the costuming I did was for Halloween and then for local, themed events. I began attending Con’s in costume with The Three Muses at MegaCon in 2012. Since then I have learned a great deal about the art of building, buying, and wearing costumes. My costumes include a wide range of genres: comics, Sci-Fi, fantasy, horror, anime, steampunk, and even cartoons. I have expanded my skills to include crafting costumes for others and even building props and fabricating costume pieces out of Worbla and EVA Foam. I have had the opportunity to be a panelist at WasabiCon and to be panelist and a ‘Guest Judge’ for a costume contest at ConJure 2014.

GAAM represents an interesting venue for the Jacksonville scene. It’s not a traditional convention, since it has a smaller focus, but it isn’t closed minded about the attendees. I like that there is an overarching theme, so that even if it is something I am not familiar with I can learn about it and still participate. GAAM not only encourages local artists and talents, it bolsters them. I have been to all four GAAMs and even participated behind the scenes for one. I have enjoyed each of them and look forward to their continued growth and expansion.
