As part of the GAAM tradition…there’s gotta be free beer! And this time it’s being provided by the awesome brewers at Aardwolf Brewing Company! That’s right…the beer so many of you drank waaaaaaaay too much of is returning! So get your tickets to GAAM at http://www.gaam.eventbrite.com and get ready for some drinks. 😀
Cosplaying since 2004 (that’s 10 years!), Joyce “Lystrade” Kay has been an anime and gaming fan since she was just a few years old. While her siblings ventured off into the world of the gaming industry (her brother playing for Curse Gaming’s League of Legends team, and her sister working with Ubisoft’s Frag Dolls), she turned her focus to crafting, learning to create and transform herself into her favorite characters.
When she’s not slaving away over a sewing machine, styling gravity defying wigs, or learning new make-up techniques, you can find her at conventions (judging costume contets, MC-ing, or just having fun in costume!), promotional modeling, playing with her corgi Curie, or attempting to jungle in League of Legends.
Beyond Imagination Cosplay is going to be set up in the Cosplay Corner at GAAM! Let’s get to know them a little bit better! 🙂
Beyond Imagination Cosplay by RJ, Keia, & Jae is a cosplay group comprised of three creative, intelligent, artistic, friendly, and super fun geek women passionate about fantasy, science fiction, art, gaming, anime, and cosplay.
Keia had only one dream since childhood: to grow up and become a princess. And due to a significant shortage of diamond studded tiaras, she did the next best thing and became a seamstress. Armed with a mighty sewing machine, she began her craft of costuming and casual clothing. She quests from kingdom to kingdom in search of new challenges and adventures.
Jae is an independent artist with love for all things video game-y, cosplay, sci-fi and fantasy. With a strong background in art history, a knack for traditional media and a desire to learn and develop new techniques, Jannelle aims to break ground in the art and cosplay communities and put a fresh, new, gamer’s twist on classical art styles.
RJ is a creative mind with a passion for writing epic fantasy and poetry, creating graphic art, playing video games, and cosplay. From a young age RJ fell in love with not only the more popular novel/movie franchises such as The Lord of the Rings and Star wars, but was also an avid reader of victorian novels and classics. In addition, RJ took her passion of reading, writing, fantasy, and science fiction with her through her master’s degree in education and became a teacher of English/writing and earth and planetary science to middle school students. And more recently has finished writing her very first fantasy novel of an epic fantasy series she plans on publishing over the next few years.
Active in all things geeky for as long as he can remember, Jayson, or better known as Panzer has been an active participant in the hobby of cosplay since 2006. While best known for his Loki cosplay that garnered him international attention and secured him a role in a Marvel fanfilm, Jayson has since completed numerous costumes from a variety of genres and made appearances at numerous conventions both local as well as out of state.
Of course when he isn’t off at a convention cosplaying or hanging with his close friends, he can be found reading a multitude of comics or giving the enemies of humanity what for in the latest Halo installment on his xbox.
If you’re into geeky, nerdy, and video game stuff, you won’t be dissappointed with the original hand-sewn items of Silliness of Sewing! We could tell you more about what they make…but let’s just show you instead. Because damn…they’re stuff is awesome.
Our good friends at Gamestop (shout out to the Beach and Hodges location in Jacksonville!) are coming through and supporting the gamers by setting up at GAAM! They’ll be assisting with Mario Kart 8 stations…which will be done GAAM style! We’ll revealing exactly what that means soon…but expect to play Mario Kart like you never have before! 😀
So Preben Olsen, is not only tall, but he’s a cool guy. His bar is a cool part of town. He owns a bar called Aardwolf (cool). He makes local brews (super cool). And he likes video games (super super cool).
He’s also sooooo cool, that he’s contributing some of his cool beer to GAAM attendees! That’s the really really good stuff a lot of you got to drink for free with your tickets at the last show!
So thank you, brewers of Aardwolf, for creating such amazing beer in Jacksonville, and thank you even more, for contributing it to the gaming community and GAAM! Cheers!
It’s not often that we find a reason to give Mega Man vodka. However, it’s pretty often that the rest of the GAAM team drinks vodka. check our bar tabs. There’s almost always a ton of Gatorade’s ( flavored vodka, water, and a splash of sour mix) on our tabs!
So having Ivana Bitch Vodka as the featured vodka of GAAM is a dream come true! It’s fun to say, is great for making gatorades (and other specialty gaming drinks that will be at GAAM), and Mega Man thinks it’s megariffic. PEW PEW PEW!
So, we met Fuzion Vapor almost a year ago, and we just gotta say, it’s so rare to meet a company this cool and this real.
They have consistently supported us and the gamers (they’re pretty legit gamers themselves), they’re pioneers for everybody that vapes, and they contribute to multiple charities every year. Why? Because they’re damn good guys, that’s why. And that’s why the GAAM is team is happy and proud to say that Fuzion Vapor is not only the sponsor, but the TITLE SPONSOR for GAAM! So VAPE ON! 😀
You can see the proof of their title sponsorship all over the place. You can see the proof of their funk below (or on facebook).
Noble Whale Studios is working on a cool game called “Grabbles” and it’s coming to GAAM!
Grabbles uses a simple mechanic: players interact with the environment by pulling themselves and others around with sticky elastic arms. Each Grabble is equipped with two stretchy appendages that are controlled using the thumbsticks and fired using the triggers of any USB controller, or with right and left mouse clicks. The character is built from a system of connected springs and responds dynamically to players and the environment. This 2-D platformer has a play style that encourages flow control and quick reflexes. Grabbles is easy to pick up and hard to put down. It provides an immersive, colorful world to explore, full of challenging environments for the casual player as well as an exhilarating and highly competitive multiplayer experience for the hard-core gamer.
You can help them and vote for them on Steam Greenlight here.
DJ Napoleon has been a staple of the Jacksonville music scene for quite some time, and is synonymous with bangers! We’re excited to announce he will be returning to GAAM, and we know that guarantees that attendees will have a damn good time!
You can find him livestreaming on ustream here.
DJ NES has been with us since the beginning, throwing down his signature beats, time and time again. His mix of Top 40, Video game remixes, and trap, has made him a crowd favorite not just at GAAM, but at other gaming events, like Arcade Jax! We’re excited to have him at the GAAM Show!:D
P.S. If anybody asks, he’s also better than Derrick Nevado.
P.P.S. EVERYBODY is better than Derrick Nevado.
Typically GAAM focus more on video games. If it’s not video game related…we won’t even let it in. But even if this card game from Passion Project didn’t have any video game inspiration, (which it has boatloads of!) we’d still let it in! It just looks that damn cool! 😀
